Mangou Bagni, Hotel Hombori

Hombori is a small settlement on the road from Douentza to Gao and by this I mean that basically it stays in the middle of nowhere.

Surrounded by rocky mountains and by Sahara Desert, Hombori is the perfect place to stay for 2 or 3 days and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the far countryside, at the gates of Sahara. Also here, you can visit the Hand of Fatma Mountain, the trail of the seasonal elephants and the old village of Hombori on the top of the mountain south of the main road.

There are 2 choices of accommodation in Hombori, both very similar in style and quality.

I stayed in Mangou Bagni Campement that belongs to the only Christian family in town. Facilities are simple but clean with bath-rooms, showers and proper anti-mosquitoes nets and you can even sleep on the roof for a cheaper price. Also each room has a pair of Holy Bibles that I took a look at on the section Jesus was born and the Egypt escape.

I payed 3000 CFA per night (around 4.5 Euros) plus food. It seems that during high season accommodation price rises a little bit up to 4000 CFA per night.

My clothes where washed for 1800 CFA and the lady did a splendid job as my jeans were brown dirty.

Single room = 4000 CFA
Quadruple room = 6000 CFA
Camping with matress 1 person = 2000 CFA
